Acacia (Acacia auriculiformis) SPECIES

Acacia is plantation forest in Vietnam. It is very fast growing tree. we can cut the tree at age of 15 years with diameter around 20cm~30cm. This species is widely planted along vietnam & other tropical country.
Tree: 4-30 m high, crown wide spreading and dense, deciduous, pendulous. Bark: brown, longitudinal fissured. Leaves: compound, bipinnate when seedling later fall down, petiole still persistent and turning to be phyllode, alternate, dark green, smooth, phyllode oblong, apex and base acuminate like falcate shaped. Flower: inflorescence pamile, axillary, yellow. Fruit: pod, flaltened, circinate, seed shiny black. Growing in sandy loamy soil and saline soil, flooding in duration.

Heartwood is dark yellow to brown with darker veins. It is a straight-grained or slightly wavy wood with medium texture. Sapwood is white to yellow colour. Sapwood is stable.

Acacia is naturally durable. both sapwood & heartwood is durable.
It can be used in class 2 (dry atmosphere ).
After treatment, it can be used in class 4 (contact with non-salty water).
